An Overview of Common Types of Construction Equipment
The building and construction of roads, homes, and businesses is an impressive feat and something that our society relies on. From moving raw materials to lifting heavy pipes, there are many different types of equipment workers count on to complete a project. Our team at Pete's Equipment Sales & Rentals, Inc. is proud to be a part of this industry and we want to give you a brief overview of some of the most common pieces of construction equipment.
Excavators
If you’ve ever been near a construction site, you’ve likely seen an excavator hard at work. They’re widely used in the industry for digging, moving materials, demolition, and heavy lifting. You can find them in both track and wheeled machines.
Bulldozers
Bulldozers are also used for excavating, but they focus more on removing the top layer of soil. It uses a wide metal plate to scrape the area, but it can also be raised and lowered to remove the dirt at the exact depth you need.
Graders
When a road is being constructed, you’ll more than likely see a grader. This piece of construction equipment can level the surface by using a horizontal blade that’s lowered to the ground as it moves forward, leveling the area ahead.
Dump Trucks
Not all work takes place right on the job site. Dump trucks deliver materials like soil and gravel to the site and can also remove raw materials from the area.
Loaders
When you need to load a dump truck, a loader is a perfect solution for putting raw materials in the dump bed. A large bucket is located in the front and operated by hydraulic arms to move up and down and rotate the bucket as needed.
